Understanding TDEE
What is TDEE?
Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is the total number of calories you burn in a day, including your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and calories burned through physical activity.
How is it calculated?
TDEE = BMR × Activity Factor. We use the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to calculate BMR, which is considered one of the most accurate formulas.
Activity Levels
- Sedentary: Desk job, no exercise
- Lightly Active: Light exercise 1-3 days/week
- Moderately Active: Moderate exercise 3-5 days/week
- Very Active: Hard exercise 6-7 days/week
- Extremely Active: Very hard exercise + physical job
